Resources for GPs working in secure environments
Working in secure environments such as prisons, secure hospitals, young offender institutions and immigration removal centres presents unique challenges. Our resources provide guidance for GPs working in this area.

RCGP Wales Secure Environment Network (SEN)
The RCGP Wales Secure Environment Network (SEN) brings together clinicians in Wales who work within secure environments and with the socially excluded to promote best practice in the provision of care.
SEN aims to develop, support and encourage the role of doctors in providing primary care in secure environments in Wales such as the Prison Service and Probation Service by:
- supporting and encouraging training for GPs working in these areas and support the continuity of care and integration of patients from secure environments on return to the wider community
- supporting and encouraging the development of research into primary care in secure environments and the professional leadership of this group of doctors across Wales.
