Malnutrition and Nutritional Deficiency Conditions

Malnutrition, including specific nutritional deficiencies, is both a cause and a consequence of disease in adults and children. Malnutrition is common but often under-recognised and under-treated despite its known impact on wellbeing, physical function, disease risk and mortality.

Malnourished individuals go to their GP more often, are admitted to hospital more frequently, stay on the wards for longer, succumb to infections and can even end up being admitted to long term care of dying unnecessarily.

Improved awareness may trigger benefits across the whole spectrum of patient care. Please find below a range of malnutrition and nutritional deficiency resources.
