This workbook and DVD set is split into 2 sections:

Section 1:
Communication Excerpts

Split into 24 chapters describing the essential components of the consultation. In each, there are simulated examples of learning points that are raised during the consultation. The workbook explains these learning points in more detail, and sets the trainee tasks and questions to further assist the process.

Use the workbook to reflect on the material on the DVD, and on the questions and commentary. It is not designed to be wathced in one sitting: take your time - there's a lot to learn!

Section 2:
Whole Consultations

Contains 12 whole simulated consultations. The workbook contains comments collated by current RCGP Examiners, assesing the consultation as for the Consultation Observation Tool (COT) component of nMRCGP, and deciding how each criterion would be marked and why. There is also a description of the feedback that might be given to the consulting doctor for the purpose of the COT. This should provide the trainee with some insight into the thoughts of the examiners, but also affords the opportunity for debate with colleagues or trainer.

This DVD can also be used as a generic learning tool and not just as preparation for the examinations in the GP Registrar year.
