This paper describes a group of five projects aimed at promoting the use of research evidence in primary care, which were established in the late 1990s. Each project was intended to develop, introduce and evaluate a different approach to facilitating better use of evidence within a primary care setting. The authors carried out an independent evaluation of the initiative. They identify a range of invaluable lessons for all those interested in evidence-based change.
The London Regional Office of the NHS Executive provided financial support for the publishing of this Occasional Paper.
