The Heritage Committee
"Such a body [a College of
General Practice] would be repository of the traditions and ethics
of general practice which otherwise are likely to be irretrievably
lost..."
[Memorandum on "The Importance of
Establishing a Royal College of General Practice" by Dr. FM Rose to
BMA General Practice Review Committee 1951 - Fraser Rose papers

After collecting medical instruments, historic books and
archives from the earliest days of the College a Museum and
Archives Committee was founded in 1994. It was renamed the Heritage
Committee in 1999. An article about the foundation of the Collections and Committee
was written by John Horder in 2003.
"The Heritage Committee has a role and responsibility to
promote and preserve the history of generalist practice in this
country."

Professor David Haslam 24 February 2004]
