Subscription Discounts

While the full subscription fee for the year 1 April 2008 - 31 March 2009 has been set at £448,  College Bye-laws allow for a number of circumstances where a member’s subscription fees may be reduced or, in exceptional circumstances, waived.
All subscription discounts (except for Overseas residency where known) are available on annual application/renewal.

Members of Secondary Affiliation

A new discount has been introduced for members who work in another medical discipline but who also wish to retain their links with the College. These members can receive a 50% discount from the full rate if they are paying subscriptions to another Royal College or Faculty. For more information, please contact Membership Support on 020 7589 8710 or email membership@rcgp.org.uk

Other Discounts

Permanently resident overseas - any member who on 1 April of any subscription year is permanently resident overseas will pay 50% of the full rate unless a lower rate is applicable on income or other grounds. This includes residents on the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands.

Retired rate - any member who on 1 April of any subscription year has finally retired from professional medical practice (ie: receives no remuneration from work based on their medical qualifications), by virtue of age, ill-health or other circumstances accepted by Council, will receive a 75% discount from the full rate, set at £112. Fully retired members also have the option of applying for Life membership - for more information, please contact Membership Support on 020 7589 8710 or email membership@rcgp.org.uk

Currently not working - any member who on 1 April of any subscription year is temporarily retired, on a career break, unemployed or on long term sick leave will receive a 75% discount from the full rate, set at £112.

Maternity leave - a member who was on maternity leave between 2 April 2007 and 1 April 2008 may claim a 75% reduction from the full rate, set at £112. If your maternity leave starts after 1 April 2008, you will be able to claim the reduced rate during the 2009/10 subscription year. Please note that the maternity leave rate is available for one subscription year per child only. If your maternity leave falls across two subscription years, the rate should be applied for the year in which the major part of your maternity leave has been taken. However, if you are not returning to work following your maternity leave, you may be eligible for a discounted rate on other grounds (e.g. career break, unemployment, reduced income). Should you require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact Membership Support on 020 7589 8710 or email membership@rcgp.org.uk

2 year discount from full rate - £100 discount from the full rate (only) will be applied automatically (upon renewal) to full Members of the College who passed the examination on or after 1 April 2006, for the first 2 years of their full Membership.
