I’ve got to write my personal statements; how should I do this?

The best starting point is to write your CV and your job description. This will help you focus on your achievements. Once you begin writing and have the gist of what you want to say, it can be drafted and redrafted until you are happy with the result. Most importantly, you need to focus on selling yourself and your achievements. It’s easy to describe and praise another’s achievements but not so easy to sing about one’s own. Bear the following in mind: how do you know you’re good at something and how will we know you are?
