Story 2

Starting Off

I read an article in GP Medieconomics in May 2006 written by the then President Dr Roger Neighbour – regarding the Fellowship under the unified route.  I found out a lot more information when I attended the President’s Reception for retired members of the College on 7th July 2006.

Retired Member

I retired as a GP on 31st May 2005 after serving the NHS since 1967 of which 30 years as a GP.  I felt I wanted to apply for the Fellowship as I had done so many things during my working life which appeared to come under the category/categories for the application.

Local Support

I was helped by the local Vale of Trent faculty in preparing my application and am grateful for their support.  I am so pleased that even after retirement a member has the opportunity to obtain a Fellowship under the unified route which may not be possible otherwise.
