A potential Fellow submitting in this category should be able
to show evidence of ‘practical caritas’, such as patient
satisfaction surveys or other measures of patient empowerment and
enablement. This might be supported by unsolicited evidence of
patients’ appreciation such as ‘thank you’ letters.
The candidate might be able to indicate practical changes to
practice arising from patient involvement or suggestions. He or she
may be involved in a patient participation group, in the practice
or more widely.
A candidate might have undertaken courses on patient-centred
skills such as consulting or negotiating skills.
Particularly strong candidates might have undertaken a formal
assessment of their consulting skills, such as an RCGP video, or
have written or taught on patient-centred topics.
