Fellowship is the highest level of membership of the College.
The College’s first fellows were elected in 1969. A Fellow of the
College exemplifies its motto ‘cum scientia caritas’, and is an
ambassador for the College’s standards and values in whom the
College is happy to signal its pride.
From 1st April 2006, the College’s previous two routes to
Fellowship, Fellowship by Assessment of Performance (FBA) and
Fellowship by Nomination (FBN), have been replaced by a new route
to Fellowship.
The new route recognises the varying career patterns of
members and is designed to be as relevant to portfolio or part time
GPs as to full time principals.
Members of five continuous years can put themselves forward
for Fellowship based on their experience in one, any or all of the
six Achievement Categories which reflect the breadth of activity in
the discipline of General Practice.
