Improving the Quality of Patient Care

The College is well known for its commitment to improving the quality of patient care and understands that patients value being treated as individuals, not just as conditions. The College demonstrates this commitment through a range of developments and initiatives such as supporting individual GPs to set and monitor the standards of their individual care, and supporting practices that seek to improve the delivery of their services by undertaking the Quality Practice Award (link to QPA) or one of our other quality markers. The College also works with other national organisations (including patient representatives) to ensure that the patients care standards being set are appropriate and professionally led. Fellowship of the College is another way in which your contribution to patient care, or to the discipline of general practice, can be recognised.
