College welcomes review into application of gross negligence manslaughter in healthcare

Publication date: 06 February 2018

Responding to Jeremy Hunt's announcement of a review, Professor Helen Stokes-Lampard, Chair of the Royal College of GPs, said: "We welcome this government review as a means of better understanding the lessons that can be learned from this case.

"Such issues were laid out by The Academy of Medical Royal Colleges (AoMRC) earlier this month; a statement which was fully supported by RCGP.

"This is a time for the medical profession to move forward together and, as such, the College will continue to support the AoMRC in their collective approach, as well as working with all other relevant agencies.

"We hope that conclusions from this investigation will help us all work together to improve our health system for patients and staff throughout the NHS, both now and in the future."
