Managing Acute RTIs
18th December 2009
The RCGP is now recruiting enthusiastic GPs to
write material for a new RCGP online e-learning programme,
Managing Acute RTIs, that will be made available to GPs in
2010.
Antimicrobial resistance is a cause for major
concern both nationally and internationally. Prudent prescribing
among health care professionals in primary and secondary care is
required to slow the progression of increasing antimicrobial
resistance. The HPA antibiotic guidance is widely used by PCT
prescribing leads to encourage prudent prescribing. However
multifaceted strategies and implementation methods are needed to
bring about a change in prescribing behaviour.
To be developed in partnership with the Health
Protection Agency, the Managing Acute RTIs programme will
support GPs in implementing the HPA primary care management of
infection guidance and NICE delayed prescribing guidance, in
relation to the prescribing of antimicrobials for respiratory tract
infections.
Authors will be reimbursed on a sessional
basis. For further details and a role description, please send an
email to smcnabb@rcgp.org.uk.
Closing Date for applications is 14th
January 2010.
